- You own all content you create — resumes, cover letters, everything

- 14-day money-back guarantee on unused 30-Day Pass purchases
- No subscriptions — one-time payments only, nothing auto-renews
- Delete your account anytime from profile settings
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using ResumeOpen ("the Service"), operated by OpenHertz, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.
2. Description of Service
ResumeOpen is an online career toolkit that provides resume building, PDF export, and related career tools. The Service includes both free and premium features. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
3. User Accounts
- You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
- You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account.
- One person may not maintain more than one free account.
4. User Content
You retain full ownership of all content you create using the Service, including resumes, cover letters, and any other documents. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of the content you create. You agree not to use the Service to create content that is:
- Fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive
- Infringing on third-party intellectual property rights
- Unlawful, harmful, or objectionable
5. Free and Paid Services
ResumeOpen operates on a credit system. New accounts receive an allocation of free credits; metered actions (such as creating, importing, downloading, or sharing documents, and AI-powered features) consume credits at the rates shown on the pricing page. Unlimited access is available through the 30-Day Pass, a one-time (non-recurring) purchase. Details of pricing, credit costs, and terms are clearly presented before any purchase.
- Viewing and editing documents you have already created will remain free.
- Credit costs per action may be adjusted; changes apply only to future actions, never retroactively to credits already spent.
- The 30-Day Pass includes a 14-day money-back guarantee when unused or minimally used. See our Refund Policy for full details.
6. Payments and Billing
All payments for the Service are processed by Polar.sh (Polar Software Inc), who acts as our Merchant of Record. This means Polar is responsible for handling payment processing, tax collection, and invoicing.
By making a purchase, you also agree to Polar's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
- One-time payments: The 30-Day Pass is a single, non-recurring payment. Nothing auto-renews and no payment method is stored for future charges by us.
- Legacy subscriptions: If you purchased a subscription before the credit system was introduced, it continues under its original terms (recurring billing, cancel anytime with access until the end of the billing period) until it ends or you cancel it, after which your account operates on the credit system.
- Price changes: If we change the pass price or credit costs, changes are shown on the pricing page before any new purchase and never affect purchases already made.
7. Credits and Passes
How credits and the 30-Day Pass work:
- New accounts receive free credits at signup. No credit card is required.
- Credits never expire, but have no monetary value, are non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- The free signup credit allocation is available one time only per person; creating multiple accounts to obtain additional free credits is prohibited.
- The 30-Day Pass grants unlimited use of metered features for 30 days from purchase (or extends an active pass by 30 days). When it expires, your account returns to the credit system and any credit balance is preserved.
- Fair use applies to unlimited access: automated, scripted, or abusive usage volumes may be rate-limited.
8. Refund Policy
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on 30-Day Pass purchases that are unused or minimally used. For complete details, see our Refund Policy.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service
- Abuse the PDF export or sharing features for spam or unsolicited distribution
10. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, templates, graphics, and branding, is owned by OpenHertz and operated under the ResumeOpen brand. It is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service.
Resume templates provided by the Service are licensed for your personal and professional use in creating resumes. This license does not extend to redistributing or reselling the templates themselves.
11. Shared Resume Links
When you generate a shareable link for your resume, it becomes publicly accessible to anyone with the link. You are responsible for managing who has access to your shared links. You can disable sharing at any time from your account settings.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ResumeOpen shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data, revenue, or employment opportunities
- Interruption of service or downtime
- Errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in AI-generated content
- Unauthorized access to your account due to your failure to secure credentials
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
13. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms or engage in activity that harms the Service or other users. Upon termination:
- Your access to the Service will be revoked
- Your data may be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy
- Any outstanding fees remain payable
You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before pursuing formal legal proceedings.
